While the principles of osteopathy are to treat the person as a whole (taking a big picture approach), we often look at local effects and changes in muscle, fascia, joints, vascular supply, respiratory motion and nervous system effects in a particular body part and how it then influences and relates to its surrounding structures.

We love anatomy and some of the conditions that Osteopaths treat include:

Headaches – migraines and tension headaches
Back pain
Neck pain
Joint pain – shoulders, knees, ankles and hands
Pelvic pain
Jaw pain

Our osteopathic approach

We see a broad range of people and may assist with such complaints as neck, back and extremity pain, headaches, sporting injuries, chronic pain and work-related injuries.

We encourage physical activity as an essential part of recovery.
We like a hands-on approach alongside education. Techniques include soft tissue (massage), stretching, joint mobility and visceral techniques.
We like to help people understand their pain experience and find their own unique pathway to healthy movement and function.
We have a strong therapeutic alliance with many different professions and encourage a team approach to management of pain.

Meet our founder Barb

Dr Barbara Bugeja (Osteopath) graduated from RMIT in 2000 and has a keen interest in an integrated approach to pain management and improvement of mobility and function.

Barb has been practicing in Brisbane for more than 20 years. She founded Tarragindi Allied Health in 2015 as a holistic health hub for like-minded allied health professionals. Working in partnership with each patient, Barb formulates individualised treatment strategies to optimise health and well-being.

About Tarragindi Allied Health Barbara Bugeja

As an osteopath, Barb believes in taking a ‘big picture’ holistic approach to treatment. She is diagnostically curious on the complexities of what is contributing to an individual's pain, assessing each patients’ body to find the best way to assist in the improvement of movement patterns with the focus on return to activity or improvement of level of activity.

Barb treats patients using a broad range of techniques that include hands on manual therapy, evidence based education and advice, and ongoing self-advocacy and self-sufficiency using tools such as yoga.

Barb is currently not taking new patients as she pursues further studies.

When not at the clinic, Barb is also heavily involved with mountain biking and RATS Cycling Club, learning to speak Greek or hiking the Larapinta Trail.
